    Spezzatino alla birra

    Beef and beer makes for the perfect weekend meal.

    • 800g beef, diced
    • 1 tbsp oil
    • 2 onions, finely sliced
    • Salt
    • Pepper
    • 2 tbsp flour
    • 1 tbsp brown sugar
    • 300 ml dark beer

    1. Heat the oil in a large pot and add the beef. Cook until browned, stirring with a wooden spoon. Season with salt and pepper and add the flour, stirring continuously.
    2. Add the sugar and, little by little, the beer. Bring to the boil, then reduce the heat. Cover and leave to simmer for around 2 hours.
    3. Check the beef regularly, adding more beer mixed with hot water if necessary. Season with salt. Serve with steamed potatoes.
